Victim Files Police Complaint
Frustrated with the lack of response, the victim filed a police complaint. He requested strict action against the fraudulent delivery agent.
“After the scam, the delivery agent’s phone was switched off, and the company did not respond to my emails. I want authorities to take strict action,” he said in his complaint.

In a strange twist, another delivery agent arrived later with the actual smartphone but demanded an extra payment of ₹16,680. This made the victim realize the scam was more complex than he had initially thought.
“I was shocked by this fraud. I don’t know how someone got my order details and phone number,” he said.
This incident has raised serious concerns about the security of customer data on e-commerce platforms.
Police Begin Investigation
Following the complaint, the police registered a case under Section 318 (cheating) and Section 319 (cheating by personation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Investigators are now working to trace the fake delivery agent and find out how the fraudsters accessed private customer information.
